Almost all of Larry's family lives far enough away that we consider them company when they visit. This would mean they need to stay over a day or more to make the trip feasible. Fortunately, they love us enough to plan and carry out their plans for visiting.
Larry was raised as an only child by his maternal grandmother. The two of them moved to the coast when he was just three years old. Larry was not an only child. He has two younger brothers and two younger sisters. Most of their childhood was spent a part from one another. Not due to his mom and siblings choice! Granny was rather successful in keeping them apart. There were a few times when Granny was unsuccessful at keeping them seperated, but she was very successful at guarding the situation at all times.
It wasn't until his senior year in highschool before he was allowed to spend time with them that was not beneath Granny's watchful eye! Larry was quick to accept the others as loved ones and would have loved to have had more time with them. Granny and Larry's stepfather had a disagreement and their time together was cut short.
A few years later... (Mikal and Larry meet, fall in love and marry) I decide enough of this nonsense! My children WILL know they have other family!!! Contact is made and we build a relationship almost from the foundation up. Larry and I now enjoy frequent contact with his family as well as mine. We truly love each other!
All but one of his siblings live outside of the USA and have for about 20 years. They live in Grande Prairie and Grand Cache in Alberta, Canada. Both places are extremely beautiful. They are not a military family. His stepfather is a Baptist preacher and moved to the area to establish a new church there. This year we will be fortunate to have both his youngest brother and sister come for a visit.
Wes and his family will be here this weekend. They will stay almost a week. They have two boys. I will post pictures and stories in relation to their visit. In early October his youngest sister, Wendy will be visiting for about a week with her husband. Their children will not be making the trip with them this time. Aunt Ruth will be here during Wendy's visit too. I am sure he won't be travelling alone so we open our hearts, home, freezer and pantry to whomever will be here.
We have been given such a beautiful world to enjoy. No matter where I have travelled I see so much beauty and experience so many wonderful
things. I am amazed at the diversity from place to place. I know they will enjoy their visit as much as we will enjoy having them.
