4th of July Celebration

This is different; we usually spend the holiday camping, but this year we decided to stay at home. This decision was the result of many things. Responsibilities at work and church, wanting to be near Erica, the cost of fuel as well as several upcoming appointments made the choice seem abundantly clear that we would be better off at home.

The 4th was spent pretty uneventful, but we have plans to make up for it today. We feel blessed to live in a country where we have so many freedoms. God bless and protect those who are willing to fight so that we might enjoy these freedoms.

This evening will be spent with most of our children and their families. We are putting together a clambake. Hmm...I can imagine how scrumptious it will be. This is a summertime favorite enjoyed by all. Clams in the shell, chicken, kielbasa sausage, onions, potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob - all steamed for hours. A treat for the tastebuds to be sure. Blueberries from our own bushes will make a delicious pie that we will all enjoy for dessert.

The pool is ready for the sun and water baskers. Marco Polo and relaxing sound like a pleasant way to spend a few hours. Afterward, we will enjoy our time together playing a board game. Erica will be staying over again tonight. This means she can attend church services with us. Just five months until she can play with the other kids in the nursery. I know she will love being with them.

Perhaps I will post some pics for your enjoyment...I will have to think about that for a little bit.

We hope you had a fun and safe Independence Day!

As I am nearing the completion of this post I hear the sounds of thunder. We desperately need the rain, but I hope it holds off until we have enjoyed our evening together.
